Fan above stall shower with 7' ceilings?

My 2nd bathroom remodeling is underway; I'm working on the downstairs bathroom this time. I am about to hang the ceiling in this 6*9 bathroom and have been pondering whether to relocate the fan to directly above the stall shower. The ceilings are only 7' in the bathroom b/c of some rectangular duct work coming from the furnace (on the other side of the wall).

The current location of the fan is less than 2 feet from the only air register (which is in the ceiling). I've heard that that's not ideal for recycling the air in the room. There is no light above the shower stall, either, so I think I would go for light/fan if I did a fan above the shower. The vanity light will provide light for the rest of the room.

What's the 'common' stance on lighting a stall shower in a small bathroom, and will the presence of 7" ceilings dictate (in other words, limit) my options?

Thanks as always,
