Installing ductwork

I have an unfinished basement that I want to get started on finished. My first thing is installing a new furnace and the duct work. Can someone give me some information on duct work installs. What is a typical cost for a small (1400 sq. ft) house? I konw price is dependant on many things, but it is a $1000 job, $5000 job, or even more? Is ductwork installation a long process or just a day or two? Who installs it? Would it be an HVAC person?

Thanks for any info!

Way too many variables to give you a price. Im sure your local contractor would be happy to give you a free estimate. Matter of fact, get three.

I had duct work installed for my basement protect. A total of 8 registers and 2 returns. Averaged about $110/run including registers and grills. All was done in about 4-5 hours. But mann was it noisey!
I would guess you could get your furnace and duct work done in a couple days.
HVAC tech installs both furnace and duct work.

Hey thats a coincidence, I just did one today and it was $110 per run. Some houses already have ducts that will handle the basement runs so yours might too.

Thanks everyone for the info. That cost was about what I was figuring.
