Question Any other options for a P/V water heater ?

Hi,

I have a fairly new house (2 yrs young) and, of course as I think almost all new houses are, the house was built without a chimney. Therefore it has a rental Power Vented gas water heater (and a power vented gas High Efficiency furance).

I would like to stop renting the water heater and actually buy one. The Power Vent water heaters are of course very expensive. Can I have a different way of venting the water heater so that I can buy a less expensive one ?

Ive never heard of a rental water heater. There is no cheaper way. If you buy a non powervented water heater, the b vent chimney alone will put the cost over a powervent.
