Vent Placement

My house 25 years old but in need of much repair. I am currently working on the family room. It has a suspended ceiling and I would like to replace it with a drywall ceiling. The problem I am faced with is the heating ducts. There is an additional 15 in above the present ceiling. There are 2 ducts off to the side of one wall but one which comes to the center of the room to heat this room. I would like to move it to the same side as the others, build a drywall box around them so I can have a higher ceiling. Is there any problem with having a heating duct on the side of the room instead of the middle?

Where I come from most people put all their duct outlets in the walls or in floors close to walls. So, I don't think I would worry if the new location isn't in the center of the room.
