using bath vent for dryer

I have a tiny bathroom that I want to put a stacked washer/dryer. The bathroom is in the middle of the condo. Is it a good idea to use the bathroom vent for the dryer? Or am I better off using a lint box?

Thanks in advance.

You could try it but it will likely not work. The bath vent is probably smaller than the dryer vent and will cause the dryer to overheat. If that happens some dryers will have a resettable device where others will have a replaceable device. In the event of the latter it would require you to disassemble the dryer and purchase a replacement fuseable link.

I would not recommend it either. Depending on how old your condo is and local codes, this could be a violation. Newer codes require a vent in bathrooms (except 1/2 baths) if there is no window. MDT was also correct about the sizing and things that could happen. Good luck.

Thanks for your inputs. It does sound like a violation. The condo was built in 1976. I'll just use the lint box for the electric dryer.
