Silver vs Black flex duct

What is the difference between silver and black flex duct. Both seem to come in 4.2 and 6R (at big box store). Are they interchangable? Can you use both on the same HVAC unit or should you use the same throughout the system?

Wink

The R are the same . But I think the silver seems to hold up better in the attic. I think its from the high heat there .----- from the outside not from the inside of it. In a crawl space dont matter both hold up the same . also on some silver they have like a tie in or hanger rings on it to run wire to it to hold it up. You can mix it up anyway you want silver or black. Use the same ties and mastic duct sealants

ED my .02 cents
