Talking vent, right above the furnace

I have a vent in the main duct, right above the furnace. Is there a reason for one there??? It is in my basement and I already think the basement is too warm (several 3 other vents down there). It seems to blow out a lot of air that just heats up my laundry room. Can I seal this off??? Thanks and Feliz Ano Nuevo!!!

If its to warm just close the vent some. Or take it out!

yeah,

I dont know if it is just to warm or not. Seems like a stupid spot for someone to put a vent there. The air blows out so strong that it must rob the rest of the system. I just dont know if it has some reason for being there (back pressure, steal my money??) Thanks though. Hopefully an installer can tell me if this vent has to be there or if I can seal it closed.

Wink

If this is a closed Room for the furnace you do need a grill in the wall to let air into it for the furnace and the dryer. Then close the heat register for sure.
