bathroom vent fan suggestions

I'm gearing up for remodeling the bathroom (my first big project) and I have some concerns about installing the vent fan. (There isn't one at the moment.) Unfortunately, the closest path to outside runs through all the joists. Which would be preferable, cutting 3" (or 4"?) holes through 3-4 joists or installing a wall exhaust fan? Esthetically, it doesn't make a difference to me, I just want my bathroom vented!

Thanks for any suggestions.

Thanks Ed. That's what I thought, but I just had a couple guys installing some windows, and one seemed very confident that I could go through all the joists. I'm glad I asked!

Uhhh... yeah. I know. Thanks for the auto-reply, though. ;-)
