Our house sits on 3/4 basement, and 1/4 crawlspace. The crawlspace starts just about chest height, and there is a hole in the wall the size of a large picture for access to this crawl. The furnace is on the far side of the basement, and the ducting runs the length of the basement, and into the crawlspace to heat our rec room above. It is very hot in our sons bedroom (right above furnace), but freezing in the rec room. What can we do to balance out the heat in our home? Can we install a damper in our sons heating duct? A booster in the crawlspace?

Need to put in hot air into an new office space coming up in my basement. The room is right next to the furnace. There is a 5" hot air pipe and return air running right through this office into the rec room next to it. For the return air I'm simply going to cut into the thermal pan, but for the hot air I'm not sure if I should cut into that and share the air, or just run a new hot air duct since the office is right next to the furnace? The distance from the furnace to the rec room duct is about 15ft and there is only one register. Also, are there any ill effects from having the register on the ground, and return air in the ceiling?
