Oval to round duct

I ran oval up a wall and turned it between ceiling joists with two 45's.I now want to switch to round and go 3 feet and up into a closet to make a supply vent. My question: can I take straight duct and oval out one end to join the oval and straight ,,,,,,,,,,,

Maybe put duct mastik and fibre tape to seal it ,or that foil tape. I always have problems with that foil tape coming off{maybe it's not a good grade} I buy the best duct I can find at a pipe supplier.

When you say duct sealer, do you mean the fiber tape and mastik? What kind of sealer do you recommend/
