External vent cover for microwave

Hi all,

I have a vent that goes from my kitchen's microwave to the outside. The outside vent *should* have a metal vent flap that keeps outside air out and gets pushed open when the microwave fan is on. Well, the vent has fallen off and I have no idea where it is. So, I need to get a new one. Where in the world do I get one? I've gone to HD/Lowes and when I explain this, they either look at me like I have 9 heads or they say they don't carry it. Is it something I can order online? I don't even know who would carry this; would it be an HVAC company? A siding company?

Thanks.

Andy

An HVAC supplier would have better quality products, but you should be able to find a metal vent almost anywhere that sells ducting supplies. Measure the size of the pipe in the wall and the area (4x4, 6x6, etc) where it is to be mounted.

OH....what you want to ask for is a "range hood" vent.

Ah, okay, "range hood vent". While I don't need the whole vent (just the flap), this is a good start. Thanks.

Ahh..you said the vent was gone..not just the flap. You won't find just a flap. You'll need to either replace the entire vent or find a similar/identical model and scavenge parts.

I figured that so I'm going to go with the scavange parts option first.
