Reduce the air intake noise level of my ac unit.
HELP!
The reurn air noise of my AC system sounds like I'm at 40,000 ft in a plane and I hear the rushing air in my reurn air duct.
I've tried extra insulation around the air duct where I have access - but not that much. I've also taped any sharp edges or uneven surfaces to provide for smooth air passage within the duct.
If I can reduce the RPM of my motor to reduce the amount of air being moved; would this help? Right now the motor is rated at a single rpm of 3000.

No....reducing the speed could cause other problems much worse than just noise. You would need someone to actually measure the airflow and determine if the speed is too fast. More likely the intake is undersized. Is this a filter holding intake? Is the filter clean?
Is this an A/C only? No HVAC Pro...but most motors in air handlers have at least 2 speeds for when they are used for heating.
