Re: Flex Duct Vs. Metal/Insulated

In the crawl space I have an old unit with metal duct with two bents or so on each pipe, many of them were loose and leaking heat last winter, and I investigated only after a 700$ gas bill for Jan. houchhhh
Should I install flex or insulate current old metal ducts???????
How do you calculate pressure and static pressure in a home???
Tnks

Metal duct is far better than flex. I'd seal and insulate what you have. I'm not sure what you mean by calulating preside in a home. Only way to do this is with a blower door test but really u don't need the figure. All u need is what needs to be fixed.

I'd seal the leaks with foil tape first, then insulate.

That flex duct sucks! At least under trailers. It gets ripped by animals trying to get warm, etc.!
