OTR Microwave Venting Dilemma...

I have just finished up installing a new range and OTR microwave in kitchen. The problem I am facing is that I had to move the new cabinets about 3" to left for fridge clearance. In the process, we cut the majority of the exisiting rigid duct (rectangle) off, leaving about 2" exposed within the new cabinet.

The new OTR microwave is installed and the 'roof' blower set up and damper is now about 2-3" off from center. The damper engaged adds about 2" in height. The challenge is that all of this is going on inside a 12" kitchen cabinet.

Any ideas on how to rig an-off center venting piece while A: allowing the damper to work properly and B: maintaining integrity in the seals?

What I did was just buy some 3" rectangular duct extenders, cut and reshaped them so they fit as good as possible, then used foil tape to seal the seams. Probably not ideal, but there aren't a lot of options at the big box stores for materials to deal with this (lack of room in 12" cabinet).
