Is my basement return in line of sight and do I even need one
Hello all. I am finishing my basement and want to add a return in the ceiling (I know...not the best location, but it's the most feasible). I enclosed the furnace/water heater in a closet to separate it from the living space. I plan on installing a louvered door for air flow. The location of the proposed return is just outside the door and to the left about three feet.
Two questions...
Is this return too close to the furnace/water heater?
Is a return even needed since the furnace will pull air through the louvered door?
The duct for the return will be piped directly into the main return using a 6" round duct. My supply duct also comes off the main supply and is located in the ceiling on the opposite side of the room ~ 20 feet from return. Only looking to warm basement a bit. Not make it like rest of house.
Thanks
