How to hide the duct...

I am in the process of finishing my basement and I have this flexible duct supply hanging that the builder put in for a vent located in the wall above. I can not redirect the vent to hide it in floor joist without cutting a hole in the web of the floor joist. I understand that is probably not a good idea to make such a large hole in floor joist for strength reason. Any ideas? The second pic shows the other end of the ceiling and I can not cross the joist cavities either.

You could frame in a soffit to house the duct work.
