Flex Duct For HVAC

In Ontario,am I correct in saying that the flex duct (the one that used for clothes dryer vents) is not permissible for HVAC systems ?
But, I am permitted to use the insulated flex duct thats made of plastic ??

I would avoid using flex duct all together if possible. If not, then the insulated type is the one to use.
Note* Not an HVAC pro nor do I live in Canada.
