Dryer vent run - need help
Im moving the washer and dryer units from downstairs in the basement to a renovated first floor guest bathroom. Im going to stack the washer/dryer with the dryer on top. They will be adjacent to an exterior wall that has an outdoor deck on the other side of the wall.
So im not sure what to do with the dryer vent.
Option 1: Run a new dryer vent 90 degrees and directly out through a new opening. Id have to cut a hole in the siding and the vent would be approximately 4' above the outdoor deck.
Option 2: run the dryer vent down, through the floor (which isn't in place yet) and out through the previous dryer vent opening in the basement. This run is 3 90 degree turns and 15 feet total length.
I'd rather not cut a new hole and go out to the deck but looking for suggestions/thoughts.

Even though it's fairly close to the deck.... option 1 is the best choice.
Anytime you add 90's to the mix you have a place for lint to collect. The good thing in your application, if you choose option 2, is that since the lines run down. the lint will fall. Still a yearly cleaning should be included in the house duties.

OK good info. Any other thoughts? If I choose option 2 and go down I was going to use this slim line dryer periscope to get down to the basement. Good/bad ??
Any ideas on how to get through the floor nicely? Just an opening cut to size?

Adding 90's and longer run also increases resistance and decreases air flow which will translate directly to increased drying time and energy use. Those periscope things are particularly bad in that sense because you have a bend and turbulence from changing from round to rectangular in such a short space. You want turns to be as gradual as possible.
But I get that it will be annoying to have the outlet on the deck. You can probably time doing laundry so it's not running when you are using the deck, but you will always be cleaning up little bits of lint from the deck. OTOH, it will be easy and convenient to clean.
I guess I would probably use option 2 but avoid the periscope and try to use 2 45's to make the 90 degree turns more gradual if that's possible. Of course, avoid using flex duct, and make sure the joints point the right direction so lint doesn't get trapped internally by the edge of the duct pieces.

The way the washer and dryer will be oriented you wll be able to see behind them so I'd like to get them as close to the wall as possible, that's why i was looking at the periscope. If it was me making the call i'd go out the wall and onto the deck, but the Misses doesn't like that idea.
If i was to go out the wall adjacent to the dryer, anyway to make that as pretty as possible?
