Furniture is blocking vents

I recently looked at a home for sale that is approx 5 years old, has central a/c and propane heat delivered by the same ducting system. The relatively small living room as a large sectional that sits on top of the floor vents responsible for heating/cooling that room. The return is not obstructed. I would likely need to furnish the room in the same manner if I bought the house. How much of a negative impact does this have on effective heating/cooling? Thanks

It doesn't help but it may no be a huge problem - if they have the house furnished about the same way, see how that room feels compared to the rest of the house.

Maybe off in my thinking but choose furniture with at least short legs so it doesn't totally block the vent but instead air has a chance to flow out from under it.
