HVAC Duct in Enclosed Closet off Garage

I'm planning on converting my utility closet in my garage to house all of my home electronics and home automation gear. I need to add a HVAC drop in order to handle that. I know adding a HVAC duct into a garage is not up to code, but is adding one into an enclosed room off a garage allowed? The room has a door which leads into the garage and is closed at all times.

I'm not looking to keep the room the same temp as my house...I'm just trying to prevent it from going over 90 or under 60.

Thanks in advance!

If that closest has a door that opens into the garage then an HVAC duct is not allowed.
