Is there any good resources on explaining what all the info in a manual J is for, what i need to be concerned about?

All the information is to determine the heat loss (heating) or heat gain (cooling) of a building in order to properly size the heating and/or cooling equipment necessary to maintain a certain desired indoor temperature. The better you can determine the information the closer you can size the equipment. Equipment too small will not perform adequately and equipment too large will be inefficient.
