Wiring in return wall cavity
Hello,
I am finishing my basement and at the point of running supply and return vents. Am I okay to have wires in the same wall cavity as the return vent and does it matter if they run across or with the cavity?
Thanks!

Are you talking about panning off joists and studs with tin for the returns ?
if yes..... you can cross perpendicularly. You cannot run them the long way in a panned stud bay.

Correct that is what I meant and that's the answer I was not hoping for.
I wanted to have that return right at the bottom of the stairs, but with wiring and switch boxes bewtween the studs I was hoping to use, is it okay to have the return vent on the stairs 1-2 up from the bottom of the floor?
Or would it be a better option to cut into a different return run and have it somewhere else in the room?
I know you should run new supply lines, but how about returns?
Thanks again.
