A/C return vent
I’m looking for suggestions on how to cover/winterize a ceiling return air vent.
I recently had central AC installed in my house. The air return was installed in the opening of the former whole house face into an unheated attic. It’s covered with a 32” x 32” aluminum screen. The house is heated with a separate forced hot water system. Since it’s still fairly cold outside, we’re not using the AC system. I’m noticing cold drafts near the vent. Any ideas would be appreciated!

Take off the vent cover (i don't think thats the correct name for it but "vent" works for me). Cut a piece of material ( cardboard would probably be best) that you can sandwich between the vent and the wall. Make sure and cut it slightly smaller than the inside edge of the vent but larger than the hole in the drywall. You will want it to be thick enough so it will slightly compress when the vent is all the way against the wall.
