Remodel duct rerouting

We're beginning a kitchen remodel, resulting in 1-2 registers & associated ductwork being moved. The majority of ductwork running throughout the crawlspace, is rigid metal from the original construction. A few years ago, we had additional runs added when we purchased a new Furnace & Central A/C Unit; those runs are of the flexible type.

When rerouting the kitchen remodel runs, which are of the rigid metal type, can I use a combination of the rigid & flexible with some type of adapter? For what it's worth, the rerouting will result in shorter, more direct runs
