Replace/upgrading ducting from 1969

I have a home in Phoenix that was built in 1969 and it has the rigid rectangular ducting. A few years ago we had the old fiberglass insulation removed and had foam insulation installed. The foam is sprayed on the underside of the roof so all of the air ducting is exposed(which is not a problem) and the attic is considered an air conditioned space and is always within 10° of the set temperature. ANYWAY, I would like to replace the old ducting with new flexible ducting because we have some spots in the living room and dining room that feel like there is no air flow so they are always hot. One of the bedrooms is always way colder than the others and I just think if the registers were moved to the ceiling it would provide more even air flow and better efficiency.

What kinds of things do I need to know before starting a ducting replacement project?? Are there any good videos that cover this topic
