Moving Dryer/Washer to main floor, Vent question.

Moving the dryer and washer to main floor.
The dryer vent comes from the back but I need to vent out to the right side of the dryer.
What are my options?
I want to keep dryer tight against the back wall as much as possible.

Don't know how your exact dryer is vented, but on mine, it was "remodelled" to vent out the side. So it can be done... at least on some models. Probably not your newer fancier ones though.

Get a dryer that vents out the right side like you want. I would avoid that since it will be difficult to find and when that machine needs to be replaced you will face the same problem again.

You really need to install a vent in the back, which is standard for dryers.

It's possible without any major appliance brand or style. You will need to use those flat style vents (periscope type) along with a flex type. See sketch from This Old House (hopefully the mods will allow this pic with credits as listed).

Note, it's not the best venting due to the tight turns but it can be done.

I had similar situation 3 houses ago, the rear discharge needed to be changed to LH side where it went out the wall.

It didn't have the cutout on the side, I had to do that, but the internal ducting just rotated 90 degrees. All you can do is pop the top and see what's inside!

PS, this was a Whirlpool dryer!
