Moving the dryer and washer to main floor.
The dryer vent comes from the back but I need to vent out to the right side of the dryer.
What are my options?
I want to keep dryer tight against the back wall as much as possible.
Don't know how your exact dryer is vented, but on mine, it was "remodelled" to vent out the side. So it can be done... at least on some models. Probably not your newer fancier ones though.
"What are my options?" Get a dryer that vents out the right side like you want. I would avoid that since it will be difficult to find and when that machine needs to be replaced you will face the same problem again.
You really need to install a vent in the back, which is standard for dryers.
It's possible without any major appliance brand or style. You will need to use those flat style vents (periscope type) along with a flex type. See sketch from This Old House (hopefully the mods will allow this pic with credits as listed).
I had similar situation 3 houses ago, the rear discharge needed to be changed to LH side where it went out the wall.
It didn't have the cutout on the side, I had to do that, but the internal ducting just rotated 90 degrees. All you can do is pop the top and see what's inside!
I bought a home with a CRIS30SS600 vent hood for the gas range. I should have spotted these issues but it is what it is.
The hood is really loud and also not very effective at venting. Its a 3 speed motor rated for 335, 450, and 560 CFM. After some inspection, I noticed the builder transitioned right after the hood from 6" to 4" piping. So the 4" is def undersized and I dont have access to replace all of it with 6" pipe.
Any thing I can do to fix this? Get a lower CFM motor? Replace as much of the 4" duct with 6"?
Thanks.
I'm not sure I posted this in the right forum. It might belong under architecture or something.
This happened in my house years ago. I came home from work one night and noticed the attic hatch was open and ajar. It's not hinged or anything like that. I checked for signs of forced entry or wild animal intrusions. No signs of that.
There was a violent thunderstorm a couple nights before with 80 mph plus winds. Did this cause a pressure drop or vacuum in the attic through the vents? This attic hatch sits in a recessed cut-out in the ceiling. So it would have to lift this 2 pound hatch maybe 5 inches upward and cast it off to one side.
Is this likely what happened?
