jenn-air cooktop/oven venting

my cooktop is not venting properly due to grease build up on the fan. I'm wondering if I need to remove the entire unit to get at the fan or can I gain access by taking it apart from the inside.
If I need to pull the whole unit, I can't see how it comes out either, and the installation instructions are of no help.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Like Jeff said we need your model# since there are diffrent style.

Some of the older ones had the fan in the oven area, and the newer one has it in the bottom of the oven..

Thanks again Jeff and Jay. The model # is 88370. It's a built-in located in an island. The fan/motor assembly is next to the oven on the left side. Thank you both for your help.

Cool

Hi,

Oldie....

That fan motor serves a dual purpose....convection and down draft blower....it is a dual shaft motor.

These may help...

Blower assy breakdown
Body breakdown

The plenum/scroll cover -should- come off ( will be sooooooooooo cramped in that left side ) to expose the fan blower.

Sorry can't help more...has been too long since taking one of these apart.

Hi Jeff, when you say plenum/scroll cover, do you mean on the outside of the unit or can I get to it from inside the oven. It would be nice if I didn't have to pull the whole unit out. I don't even recall how it is secured??? Yes it is an oldie, about twenty yrs.
Thanks, Steve

Hi,

I can't see any easy way with the unit is place....appears to be an access panal on the side where the blower is....only visable with the unit pulled out. Access is #22.

Plenum/scroll cover is over the motor and blower.

how,

do I remove the range itself?
I tried to check and couldn't immediately see any way to remove it.

Thanks,
Matt
