noisy Speed Queen washer

I have a Speed Queen washer model AWM372W2. Recently during the wash/rinse cycles it makes clunking/popping noise. Only does it on wash/rinse. During spin it's fine. Haven't noticed any other problems with it. Just looking for some help on narrowing down the culprit. And what to do or replace.

Thanks

Hello 93drip and Welcome to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Difficult to diagnose but you might try checking the fill valves. These parts are located inside the cabinet just behind the water inlets where the hoses are attached.

During those cycles is when the water is entering the tub. So it may be those valves. Worth checking. Remove the hoses, remove the back cover, reinstall the hoses and run the machine. Being right there when it happens may provide the answer.

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and dealers are listed in the phone book.

Here is another bit of info on the problem after listening to it again is this noise happens when the machine is agitating the clothes. When it is filling or draing is seems to work fine.

Hi: 93drip

Check the agitator. It may be lose. The top cap unscrews. Below it is a bolt or nut holding it in place. If the agitator isn't lose, problem may be in the lower end beneath the machine.

Or within the gearbox or drive assembly. Since I do not fix washers and I do not presently have any moderator professional, check with the local parts supply dealer in your area. Calling the mfg may also provide some help.

Additional Suggestions:
Read the manufacturers online web site for product information, problem possibilities, causes, solving methods, part locations, disassembly, reassembly methods, repair procedures, pictorials, schematics, downloadable repair and or owners manuals which may be available online.

Another possibility may be to search the manufacturers web site for a downloadable version of the owners or service manual. The file will be a pdf file opened with Adobe which also needs to be downloaded but worth having the Adobe once obtained.
