Question GE Hotpoint Oven

Top heating element only works on broil. Read post from D Simoneaux. Maybe have same problem. How do I know if I have just a thermostat or an entire circuit board with sensor and thermostat. Is it hard to replace yourself? Range is approx 4 years old.

Hello wildflower41,
An elctronic range control ( ERC) consist of a membrane Switch(touchpad) microcomputer board (behind touchpad) and oven temp. sensor( metal rod sticking out of the back wall of oven cavity)
And on some models the membrane switch is built into the microcomputer board.

With a model number and make call your local parts house they can tell you if you have those items. but will need model number.

Also don't overlook the possibility of a bad bake element.

since you say only heats on upper element
