Electric oven has a bad lower element?

I have a mid 90's Maytag electric range. The lower element seems to have burnt around one of the curves and now I get no heat. What do I need to do to trouble shoot & replace it. Who do I call for a replacement? Thanks in advance.

Hello: Ted

Most likely only problem is a burnt out element. Replace it and chances are it will solve the problem. It's the quickiest and least expensive first attempt to fix the problem.

Turn off the electric power before starting any repairs.

No real need to call anyone except the local appliance parts store or stores in your area. Their phone numbers are in the phone book. They will have the part.

All they will need is the make, model and serial numbers of the appliance and a small amount of your hard earned cash....

Thanks for the quick reply. Anyting to watch out for when I replace it? It looks like just one screw on either side and that's it.
