old maytag washer

I have an old A503 Maytag washing machine. It has been running great, just replaced the belts. Last night, when I went to take a load of towels out they were still dripping wet. Ran the spin cycle again, but it didn't do any good. Thought maybe the load was too full took half out and tried again, still no good. Took all of the towels out and ran the spin cycle and still the water stayed (about 2-3 inches of water, still a little soapy). Help! I read where it could be the drain could be clogged, but I don't know how to get to it. A little new to this do-it-yourself stuff, so need specific steps! It is probably 20 years old, but as a teacher, single mom of 3 and newly enrolled grad student, need it to make it a couple of more years, if any way possible! Thanks!!!

Hi robinp,
when you replaced the 2 belts one belt went around a pump pulley it is the one on the right front if machine is tilted back against a wall, pump may be frozen and that may be why you needed a belt
or pump is jammed check that first

you can remove the front and look at pump also
remove the 2 screws at the bottom of front on each side and pull front off,
pump will be on the right.
