Kenmore Dryer Start Switch?

Hi All,

I have a quick question for the xperts.

My Neighbor has a Kenmore Elec. Dryer, model #110-68932790.

When she holds the start button in, the dryer starts, but when the button is released, the dryer stops.

My instinct was the stop/start button was bad, but a website I looked at said that these switches rarely go bad, its usually if not always the motor.

Whats the opinion here?

I agree with the web site it is generally the motor start switch that is mounted on the motor.

in most cases it is cheaper and easier to replace motor it will have a new switch on it.

Before you replace the motor. Check that the switch isn't just dirty or not engaging. There could be a build up of lint peventing this from happening. If you have a air hose, can air or portable air tank handy, blow it off. Unplug the dryer first. Once you are in there....vacuum it all out and collect all the loose change.
