Kenmore washer won't spin

We have a 6-month old kenmore elite washer model #:110-24942300. It stopped working in the middle of washing cycle. Not sure what happened but the washer won't spin or drain water any more. It can still fill water but when it comes to spin cycle, it gives a Buzz. Any idea what could be wrong? Appreciate any assistance in advance. Thanks.

Hello: Allen. Welcome to the Do-It-Yourself Web Site.

Chances are the door lid safety switch is either defective and or is not being fully pressed down by the tab on the lid.

Almost any recently posted in this forum pertaining to the same, like or similar problem with a washing machine, contains all the possible problem causes and possible solutions.

A few of those posts are here:

Does anyone know where I can find instructions for taking apart a newer model Kenmore

I have the same problem with a similar washer. It didn't spin or drain and I figured out that the lid switch was broken. I ordered a new switch but I am stuck trying to disassemble the washer to make the replacement. I have seen some illustrations describing how this is done (http://www.cheapapplianceparts.com/washer_repair.htm) but I believe the new models are a bit different. My washer also has a "110" serial number and is couple of years old.

So, does anyone know where I can find instructions for taking apart a newer model Kenmore washer?

Thanks,
-Eric

Hi Egrotke,
-Not spinning and - not draining OR spinning are really 2 different problems, with many different causes. The door switch is a possible for not spinning, but unlikely for not draining.
You should really start a NEW thread here, as this is a different problem. You'll get more posts with a new headline.

Dose the timer move to spin and stop? Lid switch is usual cause for not spinning.
