opening the top of the washer replace the safety switch

I would like to change the safety switch (the part that when the lid is open the washing will stop operation), but i dont know how to open the top of the washer. I know that it is the switch that is broken.
Thank you very much for any help that i can get.

Depending on make /model/ year depends on how to go about it.

You may have a direct drive style where the cabinet comes off and not the top.

post back with info

washer model

Sir,
It is a Whirlpool Heavy Duty* Extra Large Capacity Plus which is less than 4 years old. I'm sure the top comes off, because one time it was repaired by a serviceman, and he opened it from the top. He opened it very quickly, and I just cannot remember how he did it.

Sir, thank you very much for your reply and really appreciate it.

Sincerely,
Rory

Hi,
If the unit is 4 years or newer it is the direct drive type and the cabinet is removed.
The console has two screws that hold it down to the top, once that console is fliped back there are two brass colored clips that would be removed then unplug the lid switch connector which is a 3 wire connector in the center of console that goes down into the top . standing in front of the washer, pull the cabinet towards you and lift up that will remove the cabinet to replace lid switch assembly.

hope that helps

Thank You

Sir,

Thank you very very much for your help. You are such a very nice person to spend time and help people out with their problems.

Finally, I was able to open it per your instruction. Part of the switch broke, and I was able to put them back together.

I'm very grateful, and again thank you very much from the bottom of my heart.

God Bless You and your Family.

Sincerely,
Rory I. Carandang
