Unhappy Whirpool Dryer-- Electric

TIMER PROCEED AROUND TO ALMOST THE STOP POSITION THEN WILL NOT CUT OFF. First I replaced the timer assembly and the problem remained. With help from the parts distributer(they thought the timer should have fixed the problem) I have purchased the on/off switch. He told me to start the dryer then to pull off one lead of the switch after starting the dryer to chech if the on/off switch was in fact bad. This I did and the problem remains.
Any suggestions?
I am stumped!
