Maytag dryer won't start but buzzes

I have a Maytag electric dryer model DE806. It won't start, but will buzz. I removed belt from motor, turned on, motor wheel would not start, still buzzing. However, if I help the motor wheel turn, it will start and continue to run with no buzzing. Would appreciate advice.

Thank you.... Craig

Your motor is probably bad or it has a bad start switch. Doc E

Hello: Craig

If the motor will not start rotating by itself, with or without the belt on it, the starter windings, within the motor itself, are defective.

Two choices to fix it:

Have the motor repaired at a local electric motor repair shop.
(May cost as much or close to as much, as a new motor)

Replace the motor with a new one.
(Replacement motor can be purchased at any local electric motor sales and or repair shop or any local appliance part stores in your area.)

Retail appliance parts dealers can also help determine what the possible problem may be. Bring the make, model and serial numbers. Appliance part stores and electric motor repair shops are listed in the phone book.
