GE Washer leaking oil/water?

My GE Model WWA8955S washer seems to be leaking oil and with some loads of laundry we noticed some water leakage. In poking around I've found some info. which suggests I need to replace the transmission. Is this the only problem here or will I need to do more to fix the machine?

When our G.E. washer leaked oil it was the transmission. Unfortunately, it also leaked black grease on my load of white clothes.

The transmissions have a 5 year warranty. If within that time, they will send you a rebuilt one, and you pay to send the old one back to them as a trade in.

We went through 2 transmissions in 9 years, so we finally gave up and bought a different brand.

There is a seal in the lower part of the transmission that can be replaced, the part runs about 5 bucks. You can to it yourself or have a service company do it.
