Need help with Maytag Performa Washer
I have a Maytag Performa Washer (mod. PAV2300AWW), it's only 3.5 years old but I'm experiencing a problem lately: some part within the braking mechanism for the cylinder must be wearing off because at the end of the Spin cycles (after washing and rinsing) I get this very loud metalic sound.
The cylinder does stop spinning, but the sound is getting worse.
I assume that there is a rubber pad that maybe has worn off.
How can I deal with this without having to call the Service people?
Thank you for your input!

Hi baragana,
- First unplug and then remove the cabinet, I believe on this model you undo 2 screws under the console, then tip the cabinet forward and lift off . You will see the brake unit immeditely under the drum. You can lubricate the brake with regular 30 or 40 sae oil. Put 2-3 squirts of oil inside the top of the pulley where the brake is. (I usually use a sueeze bottle with a long flexible nozzle, available in good appliance stores.) If this does not do the trick you will have to change the entire brake assembly. We'll get to that later if necessary.
Do it Right - Do it once
