Oven Broiler Not Working

Oven Broiler Not Working
GE electronic dual oven (about 4 yrs old, model JKP45). Wife was complaining that top oven took forever to preheat and that the broiler would not come on. I finally removed the broiler element to do a resistance check (but broke one of the terminals in the process - oops, was in a hurry). So...I have a new element on the way. Resistance measured about 17-19 ohms and I can't find a short in the element anywhere. Sounds like it may have been OK or it had an itermittent problem? I also pulled the thermostat and ordered a new one (to be safe). Any other suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
Wiz.

Hi wizsurfs,
- you're doing well so far. It's always a good idea to remove the back and check for burnt/loose wires or terminals when these sort of thing occur. Look especially at the element mountings and the wires from there to the control console. Also the main block where incoming cord is attached.
Do it Right - Do it once.
