Maytag DE7500 dryer won't spin
I turn the dryer on and it is blowing out hot air but it's not turning. I hear a motor working but I'm not sure if that's the one that controls the hot air or the one that moves the bin. I'm hoping it just needs a new belt! It is less quiet than when it used to turn, so I can't tell if it's because the motor went bad or if it's just the tub not turning making it so quiet.
Thanks!
Thanks!

mazeroth, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Yes, it sounds like the belt broke or slipped off. You'll have to remove the cover to check it out. Good luck. Reply back with any questions.

Phew, didn't want to have to replace the motor! I trust you but are you 100% sure it's the belt? Hate to order one or go buy one (which do you recommend) and find out it's the other problem. I won't hold you to it so don't worry
Oh, and do you have a link to an easy diagram to follow to make the change?
Thanks!

I can't be sure since I am not there. I would not buy or order anything until I knew for sure. I have included a link that should help you. Good luck,

Hi Mazeroth,
- nobody can be 100 % sure of things in appliances unless they are on the spot looking at it. ( if it was that simple, any idiot could do it ! )
My impressions from reading your posts are;
-"less noise" - something's not happening, ie- maybe drum not turning.
-"I hear a motor working" - motor works+drum doesn't = belt broken.
As Majakdragon says, you'll have to take the cover off first, (as you haven't said make and model we can't tell you how)
TAKE the OLD BELT to appliance store WITH model#, so they can help you better. When you have the new belt post back make and model and we'll tell you how to fit it.
Do it Right - Do it once.
