Arrow Kenmore washing machine spins but is noisy and shakes

I have a kenmore washing machine that is fine except at the end of the spin cycle it viabrates, shakes and makes noise. Is this some sort of a brake.
Need advice.

Kenmore model 20942992 elite, heavy duty, king size.

Hi bhm00,
- you didn't mention # so a specific solution is difficult.
Please post back with that

Hi bhm00,
- this does sound like a brake problem. Is it a belt or direct drive? To tell look at back , if there's a service panel and the water inlet is on the right looking from back, it's belt . If no service panel it's direct. If it's direct then you will have to remove the transmission.
Post back and let me know

It's a direct drive. At the end of the spin cycle it makes the noise or if you open the lid during a spin cycle. Does this machine have some sort of a brake? If so is it hard to replace. Does it cause any other problems if I don't replace it ? What would the parts cost?

Hi bhm00,
-it has a brake on top of the transmission. You must remove trans. to get at it. I don't think brake parts are sold anymore, you may have to renew the entire brake assembly.
