Please someone help belt wont tighten

I have an older GE electric dryer ( yes its old but works good still) the belt broke on it and i went to lwes to get a replacement. they had a belt that fits 97% of all dryers i took my old one down and the ribs and length everything matched they looked identical. well i installed it and it is so loose??

i took pics because there is no other pullies to go around other then these 2
its medl number DDE 7500 VA LFA

here is how much slack i have left

I had the same problem on a Hotpoint. Belt broke and wasn't sure of alignment. Pull the idler pulley in the direction where it has the most tension, past the motor pulley in my case, and try to feed it on the pulleys then.

Whirlpool washer horrible noise

My whirlpool washer is less than 2 years old. My wife was washing a load today, and after the rinse cycle, it went to spin. As soon as it hit the spin cycle, it started making this horrible loud grinding-type noise. Like as if something that was supposed to be turning was being held back by something.
