Jenn-Air Cooktop Model C-221

Jenn-Air cootop Model C-221 has grill on the left side and two burners on the right-hand side with control panel and blower plenum between two cooktops. Water found its way into the fan switch and shortedsome wiring (when this happened the fan came on by itself and remained on until breaker was shut off). One of the leads into the switch was burned and part of switch housing itself was melted.

Replaced the switch and turned breaker on. Breaker will not remain on. System is on double pole 220.

The wiring schematic shows that the blue wire, which is the fan motor wire connects to switch terminal that is horizontal and the black wire which is connected to thermostat that operates upper left-hand grill burner is attached to the switch terminal that is located on the switch at a 45 degree angle and adjacent to the horizontal terminal.

MIght I need to replace the thermostat that is conected to the switch?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi pgee,
- I would replace the t'stat and also investigate any components under it where water may also have got to.

Do it Right - Do it once.
