Unhappy Whirlpool Side by Side Refrigerator Freezer

My freezer compartment, which is the left door, has 5 shelves. At the back wall at the lower part of the freezer, I am getting ice forming over the openings where there are coils. The coils are icing up, the grill is covered with ice and the walls around the grill are icing up. I can turn off the cold control in the freezer compartment and the freezer does stop running. When it is on, even at its lowest setting, the freezer runs all the time. I cleaned the coils underneath the unit but to no avail. The refrigerator comartment works and cools fine. PLEASE HELP.

Hi Angelo,
- this sounds like the defrost timer is acting up. It's a plug in motorised switch, usually mounted in a socket near the compressor, with 4-6 wires running to it. Easy to replace , the trick is finding it, every fridge seems to have it in a different place.

Do it Right - Do it once.
