Question Where is the Fridge Water Shut Off Located?

I have a fridge with the ice maker\water unit attached, and I need to find the shut off valve (for the water line) for it. I haven't looked for it yet but can anyone tell me where that shut off for that water line could be located?

I am getting a new fridge and need to turn that line off.

Is it as simple as being where the line comes up from the ground, or is it downstairs where my water is coming in?

Hi trydel,
-this very much depends on who installed it. If the line comes up through the floor, a likely place to look would be the closest cold water pipe in the basement/crawlspace. Look for a saddle valve with a T handle, or any T compression fitting going to a smaller pipe.

Do it Right - Do it once.
