Question whirlpool apartment "stackables"

I have a whirlpool model LCR7224DQ5 washer. lately the wife says the clothes are a bit "soapy" as if they are not rinseing right. all cycles seem to be working (fill wash drain fill rinse drain spin). it appears that what is happening is the agitator isn't working to it's potential. the spin cycle also doesn't appear to be as fast as before. it appears that when washing although the agitator moves almost 90 degrees back and forth the clothes don't "move" much. the thin layer of soap on top then just "settles" on the clothes as the water drains. i am thinking the agitator may be bad or possibly the belt? any ideas on how to check for what the problem might be?

Hi mr_barley,
- I would think you're on the right track with thinking 'belt' . It's probably loose or worn too smooth. Check the tensioner and the belt for cracks and stretch.

Do it Right - Do it once.
