Kenmore Elite dryer

I have a Kenmore Elite sensor smart electric dryer that takes twice as long to dry a load as it did when I bought it. I have checked the vent from the dryer out but I do not know how to get the front panel off to see if there is lint built up there. It is a front loading model with a large kickplate. It is the kickplate I can't get off. It appears to have springs that I can't remove.
Can you help me get the covers off?

((((UN PLUG FIRST))) Use a putty knife... slide from left to right and right to left... you will stop at the spring clips on both sides... push on clips with putty knife and lift up while pulling the panel foward... will snap back on when re-installing..

I have 2 yearold Whirlpool EXtra Large Capicity washer Model LXR6432JQ1 that does not spin unless you open the lid a close it again during the spin cycle. If left alone it drains and completes the cycle with no spinning ,however it does cause the motor to smell like it is getting hot. When you lift the lid and look inside during the spin cycle you will hear the trans kick in and the drum will jump and when the lid is closed it thes spins through that cycle, only to fail on the next one. How do I get to the motor. I have pulled the back of the dryer off and it is sealed with no access to the motor. Popping th top reveals the drum and belt (which is o.k.) Looks like access it through the front lower panel, but I can not figure out how to remove. Pressing the start button starts a hum, but no motor turn, then a slight electrical burning smell.
