Kenmore Front Loading Washer--Getting Rust Stains

I am noticing that I am starting to get rust stains on some of my clothes which I assume is from the washing machine. It is a Sears front loader and has a stainless steel drum. Before my ancient washer died, we started getting some stains but couls see where the drum was starting to rust a little.

This one is only a few years old. I am baffled as to where to look for the source of the problem. Can anyone help out here?

There could be alot of reasons for the stains..

1. Not using HE detergent

2. Well water deposits

does the inside lip of your boot feel slimmy??? That i a good sign of soap scum and mold which will stain like rust... Basket shld have lifetime warranty

I don't have a well. so it's not well water issues. No slimy feel, either.

What is HE detergent?

In your owners manual it recomends H (High) E (Efficient) Detergent.. It is designed to be low sudsing due to less amount of water.. salespeople say just use alot less but in long run wont cut it... Unless you want to tackle taking boot off to chck tub I would call someone to check it.....
