KitchenAid dishwasher won't wash

Older model kitchenAid dishwasher Mod.# KUDS21CSO. Goes through the fill cycle & heats the water then just sits there. Won't go into the wash cycle.
Is there something that needs to happen for the timer to advance to wash or should it go right into wash after it fills? The timer has 2 motors on it & I can see both motors working. The right side motor moves a small cam that moves an arm. Wondering if something is broke internally that isn't letting the other motor advance when the cam comes around. When you push the cancel button, the water pumps out & cycle ends. Any ideas before I shell out 100.00 for a timer I might or might not need? Thanks in advance for any ideas. Dave

 

I Say Its The Timer.... Had 1 The Other Day Did The Same Thing Filled And Sat There... Put In Timer... Fixed
