Built-in vs Built-in Style refrigerator

What is the difference between built-in and built-in "style" (sometimes call custom style or counter depth) refrigerators.

-Both are counter depth
-Both have special hindges so door will open when flush to counters
-Both can have custom panels attached
-Both are wider than a standard side by side refrigerator

Are the only differences:
-"Built-in" does not have side panels, and must be installed into cabinets
-"Built-in Style" is freestanding, has side panels, and can be used in a end-of-counter installation

Not sure if these are the only differences, but yes, a counter depth or built in "style" is freestanding while a true built in is not. You would not put a full cabinet around a counter depth. The other difference I suspect you'll find is price. True built-in was a bit out of our budget, but counter depth worked out very well.
